Lucy Hale is relatable to anyone who has ever struggled with acne. In a recent interview, the 32-year-old actress stated, “I guess the reason I’m so concerned with skincare and cosmetics is that I struggled with my skin.” “There were times when I didn’t want to be photographed. When we were filming Pretty Little Liars, we had to use special lighting to make my skin reflect in a different way so you wouldn’t see my pimples. I recall feeling embarrassed and mortified.”

She “tried everything” to clear up her skin in her twenties, including multiple creams, dermatologist appointments, regular facials, and even giving up bread. After a decade, she’s finally figured out what works and what doesn’t for her skin.

“I have combination skin, which can be oily or dry in spots, but I’m prone to breakouts. I used to have pretty horrible cystic acne in my twenties, but I’ve now gotten it under control. I mean, there’ll be a few breakouts here and there, but no more cystic things.”

Lucy Hale’s Morning Skincare Routine

1. Cleanser

Vitamin C Face Wash by Joanna Vargas: “I like to use a vitamin C wash in the morning. I usually wash my face with cold water since I believe it shrinks pores and wakes me up in the morning, so just give my skin a little jolt.”

2. Toner

She uses Obagi Nu-Derm Toner twice a day.

3. Serums

SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF

“I just put one to two, maybe three drops of SkinCeuticals, which is one of my favorite cult products. I just rub it in because it’s quite oily.”

Kora Organics Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum

“Vitamin C serum… is something I firmly believe in. It’s very brightening, it removes acne scars, and it has an orange scent. I try to stay away from areas where my skin clogs, such as my chin, nose, and forehead.”

4. Eye Cream

ISUN Peptide Eye Cream Moisture Cream

“I’m gonna do a little eye cream. Oh, also I love to put the excess eye cream on other spots that are getting older.”

5. Sunscreen

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

Which I was also terrible at as a kid, but you have to do what you have to do, and that’s why I have all these spots. Because you can’t see it, this one is cool. So you smeared a penny-size amount all over your face. It’s so good that you can’t even tell it’s there, plus it’s matte so it doesn’t get goopy. This sunscreen, I’ve discovered, can function as a primer.”

6. Face Oil

“I never leave the house without Sisley face oil mixed with Laura Mercier foundation.”

7. Lip Gloss

Lucas’ Papaw Ointment

“All of my friends make fun of me since I am a total lip balm addict, and this is my favorite.” “It’s a cult, and there’s a cult following. Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is made entirely of fermented papaya.” As per The Skin Care Edit.
