Tom Cruise isn’t notorious for allowing even little parts of his life to chance, with the exception of his third wife, Katie Holmes, escaping from his clutches. But there was one exception this time, and it occurred when the 56-year-old megastar arrived in Tokyo for the premiere of “Mission Impossible: Fallout.” Cruise, who portrays the unflappable super spy Ethan Hunt, walked out in front of the crowd, ostensibly looking dapper in a three-piece black suit with a pink shirt and tie. However, some keen observers noted that something was odd about the entire suite, and it had to do with Cruise’s trousers.

Cruise had neglected to zip up his jacket, revealing what was hidden behind the fine cloth. Cruise had given followers a possible peek into one of his many mysteries: Briefs or boxers?

Cruise grinned and waved to supporters as he entered the venue for a press conference and photo session, completely uninformed of the incident. Once inside, though, Cruise or one of his people seemed to notice the zip-up issue. By the time he took the stage with “Mission: Impossible” co-stars Henry Cavill and Simon Pegg, as well as director Christopher McQuarrie, his trousers were in order.

The wardrobe incident, though, was quickly forgotten. Cruise has another mega-hit on his hands with the sixth edition of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. That’s some solace after injuring his ankle last year while attempting one of the film’s numerous seemingly impossible stunts.
