If you use two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your Facebook account, you probably gave Facebook your phone number at some point. Because you must input a code given through text message before signing in, 2FA adds an almost unbreakable layer of protection to your Facebook account.

However, this phone number can be used for multiple reasons without your knowledge. For example, to display ads on your phone automatically or even gather your personal information which you might not be in favor of.

Not all people are in the favour of this feature and Facebook has now made a provision wherein you can remove your phone number from the account permanently. Here are a few simple steps that will help you in the process.

If you are using your Facebook app from a mobile phone, open the app and look for the Settings and Privacy option after clicking on the main drop-down arrow. Select on the settings option followed by Personal Information, which will lead you to your personal information. Once there click on the Remove option in the phone number field which should give you a prompt to enter your Facebook password. Once you have done that look for the prompt again to remove your phone number and check out for a verification email.
Follow these easy steps and you should be good to go.
