Shubhaavi Choksey the versatile actress who was recently seen in Kasautii Zindagii Kay is extremely indebted to her mother for instilling good values and discipline in her, which will be with her always.
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Shubhaavi recollects the pleasant memories spent with her mother. Says the actress, “In school, I remember my father taking all of us out for lunch or dinner on Mother’s Day, and we used to make cards for mom. In college, once I started working, I would take them and my brother out for a meal. But after becoming a mother myself, I have juggled to get out with her, and so I call her home. So both my mothers, i.e. my mother-in-law and my mother have lunch together! But this year it would again be only with my mom-in-law unfortunately, as my mom cannot travel due to Covid restrictions.”
Talking of this year’s plans for Mother’s Day, Shubhaavi states, “As I said, there are no plans this year again due to the COVID situation in our country. I will do a video call and send a card, flowers, and cake to my mother. The lunch will be due for next year. My only regret is that the card is not in my handwriting but typed.”
Ask her about pleasant memories with her mothers, and she explains, “Memories are made each year; honestly I won’t be able to pinpoint one. I love taking both the mothers shopping individually, as their choices are very different. But one cuisine that they both enjoy is Chinese food from Legacy of China; so many times we have gone there, sat on our favorite table and have reminisced all the old and new memories.”

Talking about her mother in detail, Shubhaavi avers, “My mother is extremely beautiful not only from the outside but from the inside as well. She has a strong innate quality of positivity and spreads it unconsciously wherever she is, encouraging each and everyone to go forward and look forward to life. Her day starts with a smile and ends with one. She’s the best when there are family and friends around as she is a people person. My mother also has a powerful sense of intuition especially with her kids, including Harshal & Arhaan. So coming back to the question, the best part about my mother is that she’s mine.”
Ask Shubhaavi about the special gift that she will like to give her mother, and she states, “Being happy is the best gift for her, and honestly that is all I have ever heard her say. I still remember when I started work and would say I want a car, I want a house, I want this and that and inevitably she would only say “Be happy. Ask for the happiness of the mind, body, and soul” And I would be like “God not again’, but little did I realize that it truly is the best thing to be and to own as a human being.”
Recalling a famous saying about mothers, the actress gives out a special message to all the mothers, “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers — Rudyard Kipling. God is called the creator and the sustainer of all life on Earth. God is worshipped and honored. In fact, we go to him/ her when we are happy and sad. A mother is all of this and more; so there will be expectations, moments of sadness, and frustration too, but remember you are ever-evolving and life is ever-changing. So sit tight and be strong as you are the foundation of your family.”
