Yesha Rughani who plays the leading lady Gungun in Star Plus’ Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey is having a gala time playing this fun-loving character. Her mannerisms as Gungun have been the talk of the town and she simply loves the appreciation coming in from her fans.

In an exclusive chat with IWMBuzz.com, Yesha talks at length about playing Gungun and much more.

Excerpts:

How easy or tough is it for you to get into the skin of Gungun?

It was initially a bit tough. But as I started connecting with her daily, I found a lot of ‘me’ in her. Hence it has gotten easy for me now. Having said that, I connect with characters very easily; I start living the character while I am performing. So when I wear her clothes, I am Gungun.

Are you disappointed with the stagnancy in numbers?

Not really. We are slowly and gradually moving up. The feeling is the opposite of disappointment. I am extremely happy with the response I am getting. The new tracks and twists have been appreciated. Also, I would say that I just do my job. The number game is something different. I don’t get my head into it. I focus on delivering what I am asked to do.

With Anubhav marrying both Gungun and Akriti how do you think the story will go now? What can viewers expect?

Yes, there are a lot of problems going on in Anubhav’s life with him marrying two girls. I don’t know what lies ahead. We get to know the story only while we are performing or a little before that. All I can say is that viewers can expect a lot of drama. It is going to be entertainment, entertainment and more of it (smiles).

What are the kind of roles that interest you?

I don’t think there is anything specific. Each individual is different and it is different to what you are. This in itself is interesting. The roles that I have played till now are very close to my heart.

Looking back at your career graph what have your gains as an actor been?

I don’t know what I have gained as an actor. But as a person, I have gained/gathered/ earned a lot of knowledge. I have grown as a person in life. I have learnt how to balance my emotions, emote when needed and not when not needed, how to deal with specific situations etc. There are so many things that I learn from every show.

How is it to work with Manan Joshi?

Manan is a very fine actor and a wonderful human being. Actually, it is brilliant working with him. He is extremely focussed. We rehearse our scenes, and this focus in him is what makes things so easy. When we are in unison, there is an easy flow of work. I am glad and fortunate that I am working with such a sorted person.

Have you taken in any of the character traits of Gungun after playing it for some time now?

Yes, it does happen that certain traits of the character we play, remain in us even after the cut happens. Gungun is so much like me. The walk, a few words, I really keep that with me. When I go home and behave in the same way, my sister addresses me as Gungun. That’s when I understand that I did something similar to Gungun (smiles).

Do you think it is tough for a show to gain momentum in the early evening slot?

Honestly speaking, I don’t get into this Math of slots and ratings. I will leave this to people who work on this aspect. Life is easier that way. I only perform and give my all to it.

How have the fan reactions been to your role?

I am loving every appreciation that I am getting from everyone around me. I have got to know that someone in my extended family has named their child Gungun (smiles). I love the love that I am getting.

Best of luck, Yesha Rughani!!
