This story is important, given the relevance and its impact in the art and entertainment ecosystem over the last few days.

Popular and talented singer Hard Kaur made news for featuring in a video wherein she was seen along with members of the Pro-Khalistan movement. She also took sharp digs at the reigning Government and its top most members, namely Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi.

Reports also emerged about her joining the Khalistan movement, which demands a separate country for the Sikhs in order to save themselves from the alleged oppression they face from the Government and its officials.

The video created quite a stir in India, with varied opinions surfacing on social media and news networks.

Next, owing to the controversy, it is believed that Hard Kaur’s official Twitter account was taken down.

In an attempt to learn more on the subject, we made repeated attempts to reach out to Hard Kaur, and finally she chose to break her silence and speak to a media organization for the first time post the controversy broke out.

In a brief but exclusive conversation, she shared that her Twitter account got suspended sometime back, and blamed a couple of people for the same.

We quote: “It’s been down for 5-6 weeks now. This is my 8th week of spiritual awakening. They started attacking me in the first two weeks itself. They threatened me. There is someone called Kajal Hindustani, I don’t know her real name, who was making YouTube videos against me and saying that I’m a prostitute and a drug addict. I warned her not to. She didn’t stop, so I started cursing back. And they got me off that and got me blocked on Facebook. Then it was Payal Rohatgi’s turn to do the same. She too started making videos doing the same. I’ve never met these people. How can they go around calling me a drug addict and a prostitute?”

She continued: “Ask anyone around and you will know about my reputation. I am just a singer. I have seen families getting destroyed due to drug addiction, so I know the consequences of using drugs.”

She further added: “SAD SAD DAY TODAY. WE WILL GET OUR FREEDOM. KHALISTAN ZINDABAD. ”

The statement clearly shows that she is all out in support of the cause.

She is believed to be in London at present. On being asked about returning to India, she said, “I would love to, but they will kill me.”
