Shruti Haasan, the multitalented Indian singer, actress, and model has made quite a name for herself in Telugu cinema and Bollywood industry. Her acting prowess and her charms make for a really successful career in the film industry. Today, we bring you statements of Shruti that made headlines. (According to Bollywood Life)

When Shruti spoke about sobriety: Back in 2019, the Katamayarudu actress had said that she had been sober for two years. And her statement was blown out of proportion and turned into Shruti battling alcoholism and was labelled an alcoholic. Shruti had opened up on the same saying, Drinking is part of today’s culture. There is no stigma attached to it. But I didn’t want to do it anymore. I want to live a sober life. I don’t judge people who drink. It’s strange that everybody drinks but nobody wants to talk about it. People don’t even admit that they have ever had a drink, which is ridiculous in 2019. And then, when I say I want to lead a sober life and not have that glass of wine, why is this turned into something else?

When Shruti spoke about having a superstar father: She had opened up on the insider-outsider debate. The actress said that though she has Kamal Haasan as her father, she has never once asked her dad or mom to pull any favours for her. She told Times Now, I have never asked my parents to pull in favour even once. When I left my dad’s house after my first movie, I never asked for anything. The financial pressure for independence was a great driving force for me. I am very proud of my journey. Even though I get the goodwill my parents have worked for I have not used the benefits rather. I have seen people who are the so-called outsiders, definitely get the benefit of knowing which camp to join, which person to impress. It does not mean they are not worthy but they are much better than me. I do not know if it applies to me. On paper, I look like an insider but I work and live as an outsider.

When Shruti spoke about her mom and dad’s separation: Shruti is the daughter of Sarika and Kamal Haasan. The two actors had married in 1988 and filed for divorce in 2004. The actress had opened up on her parents’ divorce and said that she was excited for them. She told Zee News India, I was just excited for them (parents) to live their own lives. I was glad they separated as I do not think two people who are not getting along, should get along for some reason. They continue to be wonderful parents. I am particularly close to my dad. My mum is doing well and is a part of our lives as well. It actually panned out for the best.

When Shruti opened up about body shaming and plastic surgery: A couple of months ago, Shruti penned a hard-hitting note slamming everyone who called her out for plastic surgery and body-shamed her. The actress wrote a lengthy post in which she addressed the plastic surgery reports. She said, I’m happy to say this is my life, my face and yes, I’ve had plastic surgery which I’m not ashamed to admit. Do I promote it? No. Am I against it? No. It’s just how I choose to live. The biggest favour we can do for ourselves and others is just be and learn to accept the changes and the movement of our bodies and minds.

When Shruti was called chudail for sporting a black lipstick: Shruti is a goth fan and has been openly sporting makeup and looks inspired by the gothic culture. And for the same, the actress has been called chudail (witch) and whatnot. The actress had just one thing to say to them, I didn’t wear that black lipstick so that you can put that gold star on your report card of me. I did it because I wanted to do it.
