Every year, Colors’ popular reality show Bigg Boss makers try to add a new element to their show to bring in some freshness. This time, in its 16th season, the talented personality, Shekhar Suman, has been brought in to host a special segment Bigg Bulletin every Sunday. In the same, the actor-host not only evaluates contestants’ performance in that week but also adds some humour and even interviews a select few. Recently, he

Tell us a bit about the idea and reason behind this new segment ‘Bigg Bulletin with Shekhar Suman’?

The idea was not mine, it was by Colors channel and Endemol. Then, they approached me with the concept. I thought it was a good idea and I could add to it hence I agreed to come on board.

When you roast contestants, where do you draw a line?

I draw a line first then start roasting the contestant. I am here to raise a toast and also to roast. I am taking a more mature approach toward them. I am not harsh, rude, or humiliating. I am just telling them where they are going wrong in a sweet sarcastic way along with adding a sense of humor. I am in a way a friend, guide, and philosopher to them.

Which are your top favourite contestants and why?

There are a lot of contestants. One of them is Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. She is very strong and has great leadership qualities. She can control the herd. She is one of my favorites. Gautam Vig, Shalin Bhanot, Shiv Thakare, and Archana Gautam are also my favorite contestants.

Would you participate in Bigg Boss as a contestant, if there’s an opportunity?

Never, ever. I am beyond that stage. I have reached an acquired status where I lead from the front. I don’t become part of a herd. I gave up way back in 1997 when I started Movers & Shakers so there is no question of participating in any reality show.

Professionally, what are you hoping from your association with Bigg Boss?

I don’t know. I take every moment as it comes. If people like it then it will blossom in the future.

What’s the status of the second part of your late-night talk show Movers & Shakers and Dekh Bhai Dekh?

Dekh Bhai Dekh is put on the back burner for some reasons. Movers & Shakers is all set to come back. Besides that, I am doing a couple of web series. One is produced by Endemol which is named AK47. I have signed up for one more web show, which I can’t share right now. I am sure whatever work I am doing right now will open up interesting avenues for me.
