Talented actress Jiya Shankar who is presently playing the lead role in Colors’ Pishachini finds the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi to be a very special moment every year.

Says Jiya, “I’m busy with work, so have not been able to visit Bappa yet. But I’ve taken a day off and will be running to hug him in the coming days!”

“Ganesh Utsav has been very close to my heart since I was a child. We used to bring him home and he used to bring the entire family together. Everything is so positive and happy around during this festival. It just brings in a lot of memories and takes me back to those days,” she adds.

In the show Pishachini, Jiya plays a staunch Hanuman bhakt. Talking about this experience, she avers, “I feel extremely blessed and grateful to play Pavitra who has been specially blessed by Lord Hanuman. It has only deepened my faith in God. I always start my day with Har Har Mahadev and Jai Bajrangbali!.”

Ask her about her favourite aarti song for Bappa and she tells us that she likes to sing, “Sukh karta dukh harta.”

On the need to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner, Jiya states, “It is good that we have eco-friendly murtis now. Mostly people go for it. Those who make their own murtis at home of chocolate/mud do the visarjan at home. They have all my respect and a big thank you. If only people could throw the flowers and food trash in the bins and not in the sea, it would make Nature and God happier!”

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all our readers!!
