Senior actress Urvashi Upadhyay who is known for her portrayals in TV shows Hamari Devrani, Ishq Subhan Allah, Dil Se Dil Tak etc is happy and excited with her role in Thapki Pyar Ki 2 on Colors.

Says Urvashi on her role in the newly launched show, “In Thapki Pyar Ki 2, I play the role of Thapki’s mami, by name Sudha Tripathi. She is very greedy. They have the business of organizing Mata Ki Chowki, in which Thapki is a star singer. However, the Mami is very much worried about the fact that Thapki might see huge success if she attempts to go beyond the route shown by her. Sudha is a strong negative character. I control the whole family. Since Thapki and her mother stay with us, they are forced to bend down to my rules and ideologies. The mami also keeps her husband into her strong hold.”

On her expectations from the show, Urvashi tells us, “This is a show which is seeing its Season 2. Thapki is a character that has been retained. While Jigyasa Singh and Jaya Bhattacharyaji have been retained, we are the newly added characters in the new season. It is indeed a challenge for the newcomers to meet the high expectations. I have taken the challenge in my stride. I have always played strong negative roles in the hero’s family. This is the first time that I am playing a negative role in the main girl’s family. So a few things are new for me. Also, I have always played sophisticated characters, but here, I get to play a comparatively poor character. In simple words, I can say this show has offered me many new experiences.”

“I gel very well with the cast. A lot of Gujarati actors have been picked up for the show. We are all grateful that amid the Covid scare, we are getting to work. We take care of each other on the set. It is a happy feeling to be meeting people again and working again,” she adds.

Urvashi who is known for her role of Manjula Nanavati in Hamari Devrani states, “I am happy that three of my shows – Thapki Pyar Ki 2 and the re-runs of Dil Se Dil Tak and Hamari Devrani are on air at the moment.”

Last but not the least, Urvashi remembers her friend and colleague from Dil Se Dil Tak, Sidharth Shukla saying, “I am very sad with the passing away of Sidharth Shukla. We had a very good bonding. I got the news of his sad demise on the 2nd day of shoot of Thapki Pyar Ki 2. Since we had packed up late the previous day, the shoot on that particular day was cancelled. I was working out when I was getting a lot of calls, and got to know of it. I was shocked to hear the news when one of my colleagues told me about it. I was numb for a while. He was a very enthusiastic and fun-filled person. I went to his house and met his mother post his demise. He left us too soon!!”
