In an exclusive conversation with, Siddhartha Vankar talks about the planning and execution of the show and much more.

What is the USP of Teri Meri Doriyaann?

The USP of TMD is its unique storytelling. The crisscross love stories, and visually showing a Sikh show are quite rare.

Except for Vijayendra Kumeria you have a relatively fresh cast. Was it a deliberate decision?

We were not looking for a known or unknown cast. We wanted good performers and people who looked the part. And we are very lucky to get a beautiful and talented ensemble cast.

When you set up new shows, what is the prime focus? How effective has the execution been for this show?

The prime focus is on telling a very potent story along with the look and feel. The thought is about how to make it a differentiator. The show has been executed brilliantly. Thanks to our director- Jaideep Sen. Whatever we wrote on the script level has translated well on screen.

All shows get made with a lot of heart. So how do you take it when a show does not do as well as it is expected to do?

I think every show has its own destiny. I really feel upset if a show fails. It’s very disheartening.

Tell us about the main characters in the show.

The characters of this show are very dynamic and are mythical opposites of each other, which creates conflicts and drama.

A very new idea of introducing the lead girl through an established show. How was this idea derived and what has been the response like?

The idea of Sahiba in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin came from the Star Plus team. It was a brilliant idea that our writers took to another level. The response has been phenomenal

We know quite a lot about Sahiba even before the airing of the first episode. Is there no fear of lesser sampling from viewers when the show actually begins?

No, I think when you know a character and have liked it, you will want to know her story.

How satisfied are you with the execution and launch of this new show?

I am very satisfied with what we have made. Yes, I have been nervous and scared. But I am extremely happy with what we have made.

Going to Ghum Hai, what can viewers expect now?

In Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, there are major twists and turns which will come and create more complexity in the drama.
