Today’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 22 August episode starts with Vedika worrying that Kartik (Mosin Khan) wouldn’t be coming home to fulfill the post marriage rituals. She didn’t know what to tell Dadi. She knew Dadi will be surely angry on Kartik. Doctor got Kartik’s debit card and looked for him to return it. She wanted to give it to Kartik’s wife. Vedika tried to collect the card, but the doctor handed it over to Naira (Shivangi Joshi), thinking she was Kartik’s wife. Vedika got upset. Naira apologized to Vedika and gave the card. She didn’t wish to come between Kartik and his wife, but Vedika mentioned that Naira had already created a rift in her marriage. Later, Naira went to meet Kartik. She wanted him to go home and perform the post marriage rituals. She told him that she would be with Kairav. She asked him not to make his wife wait. Kartik asked her not to teach him what to do.
They had a heated argument. Kartik didn’t let Naira go and vented his anger on her. He told her that he had to marry Vedika because of her. He told her that she had lost all rights on him. She told him that he had snatched rights from her by suspecting her character. He asked her to stop blaming him. She reminded his suspicion. He told her that he just asked one question, but she had ruined their lives. She asked him the reason for getting such a question in his mind. She felt he had ruined their beautiful relation. She asked him to leave. He didn’t want to leave Kairav with her, since she could again disappear, this time with Kairav. He got too emotional about missing Kairav’s growing years. He told her that she didn’t reveal her pregnancy, which was much wrong. She told him that he would have questioned the baby’s father as well, which she could have not tolerated, so she didn’t inform about her pregnancy.
She justified her decision. She made him realize his mistake. She asked him how could he ask such a thing, which he wasn’t able to tolerate now. He tagged her for taking revenge on him by keeping Kairav away for 5 years. She blamed him for punishing himself and them as well. She asked him to accept his mistake. She vented her anger on his ill thinking. She told him that if he knew about Kairav that time, he would have assumed Kairav to be someone else’s child. She reprimanded him and settled scores with him. He felt she had changed a lot. She told him that he changed first and changed her life as well. She told him that she hated him. Kartik asked her if she forgot their marriage vows. She reminded that he had broken the marriage vows by breaking her trust. She asked him not to provoke her, else he can’t hear the truth. She expressed her anger. She asked him to get out of her sight. They both were in pain.
Kartik told her that she was a coward and always ran away. She asked him to mind his words. He told her that she had no courage to face the situation, she had always been a coward to just leave. She clarified that she had left from his life since he didn’t deserve her love. He told her that she could have punished him, instead of leaving from his life. Kartik and Naira cried after a big fight. Elsewhere, Manish informed the family that Kartik didn’t want to come home for the functions. Dadi wanted Vedika to bring Kartik home. She asked Vedika to find Kartik and get him home by claiming her rights. Kartik got away and was in sorrow. Vedika failed to find him. Naira assured Vedika that she will never come back in Kartik’s life. She wanted Kairav to get fine, so that she could leave for Goa in peace. She apologized to Vedika again. Dadi compelled Kartik to come home. Kartik argued with Dadi. He asked her not to pressurize him. He wanted to be with his son. Naira was worried that Vedika will face troubles because of her. Naira went to meet Singhanias. She hoped that they forgive her and accept her back in the family. Naira met Naksh to celebrate Raksha bandhan. She feared of Naksh’s angry reaction.
