Chris Hemsworth said that his son’s favorite superhero is a DC superhero! The Marvel star uploaded an Instagram photo of himself walking hand-in-hand with one of his young boys, apparently still at work on his next Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thor: Love and Thunder. Hemsworth discloses the following in the caption: “Holding my little man’s hand and asking him the age-old question. “What do you want to be when you grow up”… “Dad I wanna be Superman” Lucky I have two other kids”.

Chris Hemsworth has been putting in a lot of work to get back into Thor shape for Thor: Love & Thunder, his eighth feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as you can see in the picture below. Hemsworth is approaching Hugh Jackman’s level of commitment to his superhero character, and you’d think his fans would worship Thor above all others. Unless you’re a parent, in which case this is completely understandable. You’ll never be as cool with your kids as you are with the rest of the world. That is simply the truth.

In any case, Chris Hemsworth’s son is like any other kid: he adores Superman. Even after Hemsworth and his co-stars turned some B- and C-level Marvel characters (Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, etc.) into worldwide superstars, DC characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have proceeded to glow brightly as icons (and merchandising cash-cows), even if they had a tougher time at the box office.

Maybe after Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth will grab the lead in that race, but it’s a tough bet to make. Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who will get to play out “The Mighty Thor” comic arc that made Jane into the new Thunder God, will be a viable contender to raise the hammer in the next Thor film. In addition to a new Thor, Hemsworth’s Odinson will face a villain dubbed Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. We’re not sure Hemsworth’s Thor will pull it out of this picture alive with a name like that (at least in his physical form).
