In 1995, Vidya Balan made her acting debut in Ekta Kapoor’s comedy show Hum Paanch. She, on the other hand, began working considerably sooner.

In an interview with Zoom, Vidya said, “My first job paid me Rs. 500 to work on a state tourist campaign. We were four of us – my sister, me, a cousin, and a friend, I believe – and each of us was paid Rs. 500.”

For the print campaign, the Sherni actress explained that they merely had to stand next to a tree. “All we had to do was stand beneath a tree and grin.” She stated she went to her first-ever TV show audition with her mother and sister. La Bella was a show that never got off the ground.

Vidya most recently appeared in Amit Masurkar’s Sherni. Vidya Vincent, a forest officer, is her leading character. The movie was made available on Amazon Prime Video.

Vidya told PTI in an interview about her character in Sherni: “She is a quiet woman who rarely smiles, but she is a doer. She stands by her convictions and believes in doing things the correct way. It’s like the adage that a tigress doesn’t have to roar to be one. My protagonist is a tigress, yet she does not roar.”

Vidya’s most recent film was Shakuntala Devi, which was also released digitally only last year. Shakuntala Devi, the titular character, was played by her.
