Kishore Kumar Ganguly aka Kishore Kumar is a label, not simply a name, as I’m sure everyone will agree. Kishore Kumar, described by many as “evergreen” and “immortal,” is without a doubt one of the greatest and best playback singers the Indian film industry has ever produced. A genuine genius who could transform anything into gold if he set his hands on it.

His voice is so enticing and melodious that it still melts people’s hearts and transforms their moods in a matter of seconds. Songs performed by him are never outdated, but rather have a throwback atmosphere that makes people go crazy.

On August 4, 1929, in Khandwa, India, he was born the youngest of four siblings to Bengali Brahmin parents (in Madhya Pradesh). Abhas Kumar Ganguly was his birth name, which he later changed to Kishore Kumar.

His two older siblings, the well-known Ashok Kumar and Anoop Kumar had already worked in Indian cinema and therefore prepared the path for Kishore Kumar to begin his career in Bollywood. His amazing talent for singing ushered in a new age in Indian playback singing, dramatically altering the landscape.

If you’re an audiophile who enjoys music, here is the place to be; the greatest vintage Kishore Kumar’s songs are listed below, and you may listen to them on repeat:

  1. Mere Sapno Ki Rani (Aradhana)

  5. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Blackmail)
