The South Korean boy band BTS, often known as Bangtan Boys, is a household name among young people. There are seven people in the band, which made its debut in 2013. With 20 million records sold as of 2021, BTS is the most successful act in South Korean history. The songs of the band frequently incorporate personal and social commentary and cover topics including mental health, problems faced by adolescents and coming-of-age, loss, the path to self-love, and individualism. It’s interesting to note that many BTS songs’ lyrics were inspired by various novels. Murakami’s “Kafka On The Shore” has two narratives, and one of those plots is significantly reflected in BTS’ “Butterfly” lyrics. The protagonist is a 15-year-old boy who flees his unhappy fate.

I don’t know if this is reality or a dream, my Kafka on the coast, don’t go to those forests over there,” is one of the three lines from the book that specifically mention it. The book is a psychological work that discusses Carl Jung’s theories and contributions to the field of human psychology. This book served as the source of inspiration for the album “Map Of The Soul: Persona,” which takes its name directly from the title of the book. Wings, BTS’ second full studio album, was entirely inspired by “Demian.” Blood, Sweat, and Tears depicted a number of themes from the coming-of-age classic. The story chronicles the development of a little kid as he struggles with good and evil, light and darkness, and creates alternatives to the pain and corruption he observes everywhere he goes.

In the short piece of philosophical fiction Omelas, a summer festival is depicted in a utopian city whose success hinges on the never-ending agony of a single child. Similar to how this story gradually emerges throughout Spring Day’s clip, with Jungkook allegedly being the youngster.
