Virat Kohli is that one name in Indian cricket right now who’s in the news and limelight for all sorts of reasons. For the longest time, Virat Kohli was in the news for the criticism he faced because of his lack of form. From criticism regarding form to eventually playing a match-winning knock against Pakistan, Virat has come a long way forward. To make things even brilliant, he scored three consecutive fifties in the tournament to brighten India’s chances of winning the World Cup this time. Amidst all this, he was also in the news for his hotel room privacy being breached.

Amidst all this, our very own Virat Kohli finds his name in the middle of another apparent controversy. As per reports in ESPN CRICINFO, Bangladesh team member Nurul Hasan has accused Kohli of fake fielding. He was reportedly quoted as saying,

“Certainly, the field was wet and it had an impact and everyone saw that and eventually, what I felt is that when we were talking there was a fake throw and it could have been a five-run penalty and that could have gone our way, but unfortunately, even that didn’t come.

For the unversed, Law 41.5, that pertains to unfair play, prohibits the “deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of [the] batter”. If the umpire deems an incident a breach of the law, then he/she can call for a dead ball and award the batting team five runs.
