Sourav Chandidas Ganguly is regarded as one of the best captains that the Indian cricket team ever had. He was appointed as the 39th President of BCCI on 23rd October. The Indian Cricketer has done wonders in the field but has got stuck in many controversies too, during his career. Here are some of them.

1-     The player was a part of the Indian team for the tour to Australia, where he made his ODI against West Indies in the year 1991-92. A rumor evolved that he had refused to carry drinks, for his teammates and behaved rudely for it. He was removed from the team, for this rumor. After four years until 1996, he was recalled by the Indian Cricket Team for England tour for ODI. Years later, Ganguly cleared the rumor out in an interview and denied the whole matter, calling it a rumor.

2-      In late 2005 and early 2006, Chappell–Ganguly controversy was quite popular during that year. This incident made him remove from the Captaincy post. He was replaced by Rahul David, in November 2005.

3-      The multiple captaincy idea in Kolkata Knight Riders created huge chaos and did hurt the sentiments of his fans in 2008. Brendon McCullum took the charge before the tournament in place of the captain, Sourav. He played for Pune Warriors for a year then again got back to his team.

The player has got himself stuck in many other controversies. The list is too long.
