Team India defeated Barbados by 100 runs in the women’s T20 cricket Group A match of the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday, thanks to pacer Renuka Singh’s four-wicket haul. The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur advanced to the semifinals thanks to this victory. India bowled out Barbados for 62 runs after recording a score of 162. Apart from all these victories, Renuka’s initiative to fire Aaliyah Alleyne caught everyone’s attention. Renuka delivered an inswinger at Alleyne in the fifth over of Barbados’ batting innings, leaving the batter absolutely baffled.

The batsman for Barbados decided not to take a shot as the ball nipped back at an awkward angle. Renuka went on to take four wickets in the game, and earlier, she had taken the same amount against Australia. India, when given the opportunity to bat, achieved a respectable 162 for four thanks to Jemimah Rodrigues’ impressive unbeaten half-century (56 not out off 46 balls) and opener Shafali Verma’s 26-ball 43. Renuka’s outstanding performance caused the Barbados hitters to bewilder themselves, and Barbados was held to 62 for 8 in 20 overs by the Indians. One wicket apiece was contributed by Sneh Rana, Meghna Singh, Radha Yadav, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Barbados’ best scorer was Kyshona Knight with 16, followed by Shakera Selman with 12. Seven of their batters were unable to score in the double digits. Earlier, Barbados lost to Australia by nine wickets after being dismissed for 64 runs. India finished second in Group A with the victory, four points from two victories, behind Australia (6 points from 3 matches). In their previous games, they had defeated Pakistan and fallen short against Australia. On Saturday, the semifinal matches will take place.
