Actor Meer Ali who was last seen in Shubhaarambh on Colors, is ecstatic about his upcoming role in Contiloe’s masterpiece show made for Doordarshan titled Swaraj. As we know, Swaraj depicts the journey of unheralded freedom fighters, with every episode talking about one such unsung hero.
Meer is the lucky one to be seen in not just one but two stories of Swaraj. Meer will be seen playing the role of Bajirao, the aggressive warrior. He will also be seen in the story of Chimaji Appa, wherein he will pay Bajirao again.
Says Meer, “I am lucky to have got to play the role of Bajirao for two stories in Swaraj. It is a big honour to play this warrior. In fact, when I started shooting for Bajirao’s character, the expectation was that I portray this character like that of Ranveer Singh from the film Bajirao Mastani. However, I took up the graph and approached it in a rather different way. There was no Mastani in Swaraj and this was not a love story. So I gave it a totally different approach which was appreciated by one and all.”
Meer is all praises for the entire team of Swaraj for shooting all episodes of the show with so much grandeur that had a touch of realism to it. “It was similar to shooting a film. Every team was impeccable in its approach and efforts.”
Meer now looks forward to his next big challenge, which will make him get out of his comfort zone as a performer.
