The episode of Anupamaa starts with Vanraj apologizing to the family because of the financial crisis. He assures that he will make everything alright and they won’t have to share their salary. Kavya asks Toshu to give her a printout of how much she and Vanraj should contribute. Baa tells children that it is good that they are earning and not putting a financial burden on their parents. It’s important to save but also important to enjoy their hard-earned money, all the children hug Baa. Anupamaa notices Bapuji sitting sadly, she asks him what’s the matter. Bapuji says he considered her his daughter since day one. He wants to make Kavya his daughter as well but is unable to do that. Anupamaa advises him to keep loving Kavya as a weak child who needs more attention. She tell that sometimes elders have to bend to listen to youngsters.
Kavya asks Vanraj why he wants to take responsibility for everyone when others in the family are earning as well. She says their savings are getting over and they need to save for their child’s future. Vanraj shockingly asks about the child. Kavya says they will have children in the future as she has never experienced motherhood and she wants to. Vanraj goes out for a call. He meets Anupamaa. She tells him that she didn’t mean to degrade him when she said Vanraj can pay from next month. Vanraj says he understands her better after getting separated. Anupamaa says that there’s no need for him to lift the burden of everyone. Vanraj says he wants to take responsibility.
Anupamaa informs Vanraj they are planning a surprise for Samar, so tells him not the wish him at 12. They both talk about Samar’s childhood stories and how he grew up so quickly. Anumapaa returns downstairs, the family members tell her that they have sent Samar to the terrace to plan the surprise party. Samar on the terrace gets sad thinking no one remembers his birthday. Vanraj tells the family he wants to surprise Samar too. Bapuji says there is a wall of difference between him and Samar and he wishes it breaks down soon. Vanraj says he is planning to gift Samar a guitar, everyone thinks it’s a good idea.
Samar goes to sleep feeling sad that even mummy forgot his birthday. The next morning he wakes up and greets everyone. He gets sad seeing no one wishing him a happy birthday. He goes to check in rooms if they have planned a surprise but finds none. Anupama sends Samar to bring bread, he goes sadly.
