BTS, the K-Pop group, maybe a global hit today, but it hasn’t been an easy road. The septet has received death threats and received more than its fair share of trolling. They were accused of lip-syncing following a concert in 2017, with detractors claiming that it was impossible for them to sing and dance at the same time. The vitriol on Twitter spread quickly, with several notable accounts blaming them as well. The band, however, did not immediately address the matter but instead chose another strategy to silence critics.

Instead of rapping his line during the BTS performance of Mic Drop at the 2017 SBS Gayo Daejun on December 25, Suga just paused and stared at the camera with a telling expression, demonstrating that the vocals were not artificial. The video went viral, and ARMY praised Suga for his “savagery.” At 1:21 in the video, there is an awesome moment.

This isn’t the first time Suga has responded to naysayers in his own unique way. When asked about plagiarism during a press conference, Suga intervened while RM was speaking and offered a tough, yet courteous, answer to the reporter, saying that the agency was working on the case and would let him know.

BTS had a successful 2021, with their singles “Butter,” “Permission To Dance,” and “My Universe” topping the Billboard Hot 100. Suga chose to shut down naysayers with one brutal act during a concert in 2017 after BTS was accused of lip-syncing.
