Yorker is the trickiest and toughest style of bowling that a fast bowler can opt for, in cricket. If it goes wrong, then the batsman can easily hit the boundaries else, it’s very difficult to handle. Very few bowlers have mastered the art of yorker. Some of the greatest bowlers of all time like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee, Waqar Younis, and many more, are the perfect yorker bowlers in the world of all time. But who is the king of all the yorker bowlers? Well, there has been a lot of argument between Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga.
Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah, the Indian right-arm fast bowler has dropped several wickets with skill. He took away 48 wickets in 8 matches in his debut year and became third-highest wicket-taker in the Test matches. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan cricketer, Separamadu Lasith Malinga is one of the finest bowlers the world has ever witnessed. He is the first-ever bowler to drop 100 wickets in Twenty20 International. Now talking about their yorker skills, both have done magic with it. Both the players are really close and have played together for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Malinga is one of the experienced players in international cricket, whereas Bumrah is new with an experience of 4 years. One can’t compare the two legendary bowlers.
Malinga has etched his name as the yorker king over the past two decades, and Bumrah is the new uprising yorker king. Bumrah’s daily practice is what makes him a great and effective yorker. He is even praised by Wasim Akram, another past yorker bowler. It’s really hard to pick the best one up between the two bowlers.
