BCCI also recognized as The Board of Control for Cricket in India has finally decided to enroll the names Ravichandran Ashwin and Mithali Raj for the most prestigious Award “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award” along with the names of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan for the “Arjuna Award”. Speaking to the sources “ANI”, the officials confirmed the names. “We had a detailed discussion and it was decided to send in the names of Ashwin and women’s Test and ODI skipper Mithali’s name for the Khel Ratna. We are recommending Dhawan again for the Arjuna while we will also suggest the names of Rahul and Bumrah,” this is according to the source.
The Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry had decided to prolong the last date of submission of consent for the upcoming National Sports Awards 2021. The nominations, coaches, entities were invited for the award and the invitation was to be emailed as per the official statement from the same.
Last year 5 sports personalities including Manika Batra, Rohit Sharma, Vinesh Phogat, Rani Rampal, and Mariyappan Phangavelu were honored with the prestigious award “Khel Ratna” making it the first time to have 5 athletes in the same year!!!
