On the third day of IPL 2021 Phase 2, it was raining landmarks. While KL Rahul, the skipper of the Punjab Kings, reached 3000 runs, Mayank Agarwal too reached 2000 runs. He reached the milestone by completing his fifty against the Rajasthan Royals in his 96th IPL innings. He scored fifty off only 34 balls, including a couple of sixes and seven boundaries. Before falling to Rahul Tewatia in the 13th over, he slammed 67 runs off 43 balls and transformed the game’s context. For the first wicket, Agarwal and KL Rahul had a century stand. The pair smashed all bowlers out of the park, scoring 120 runs in 11.5 overs. Punjab Kings’ outstanding batting effort helped them win the game in their 186-run chase.

In the IPL 2021, Mayank Agarwal is on fire. Since the last edition of the IPL in the UAE, his performance has improved significantly. Chris Gayle has been forced to skip the opening slot for Punjab Kings due to his outstanding batting performance. In IPL 2021, his batting average has risen to around 50. In the meantime, Agarwal has risen to the top of the Orange Cap list. He’s already racked up over 300 runs.

Mayank Agarwal achieved 857 runs in the inaugural WTC cycle, the fourth-most by an Indian batsman, however, he was replaced by Shubman Gill after underperforming in three games in Australia.
