On the cricket field, things are normally fairly stressful, so goof-ups and jokes are a nice respite. Here are a few that never fail to bring a smile to our faces.
1. Can you imagine someone getting fired in this manner: The wicketkeeper tries but fails to knock the stumps. The bowler receives the ball and attempts to hit it, but fails. The ball reaches the wicket-keeper once more, who makes the save this time.
2. Speaking of amusing dismissals, in a 2018 Test, Pakistan’s Azhar Ali went to the middle of the pitch to speak with his partner, believing he had hit Australian Peter Siddle’s delivery for a four. He hadn’t, and Tim Paine took advantage of the situation by dislodging the bails.
3. We don’t want to make fun of any player who gets hurt, but you have to see this video of Mark Richardson of New Zealand falling to the ground after suffering a severe cramp. Our defence is that it was so amusing and theatrical that the entire Indian squad burst out laughing.
4. However, nothing is more amusing than Javed Miandad leaping onto the field after a brawl with Kiran More.
5. Anil Kumble allegedly went so slowly to the ball during a warm-up match between India and Australia that the batsmen had already scored 4 runs by the time he arrived. So he did what he needed to do: he tossed the ball to the boundary, ensuring that even if they went for the fifth run, they would be granted four runs under the regulations.
