There are many perfect batsmen in the Indian side currently who can perform better in the longer format of the game. Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay, Hanuma Vihari are all great test players and have performed well in Indian jersey. Wriddhiman Saha got a chance to prove his worth after Dhoni retired from Test Cricket and India needed a wicketkeeper. His partner is none other than Cheteshwar Pujara who has carried on Dravid’s legacy of defending with excellence.
Pujara has scored 5840 runs in 77 test matches that he has played for India. He scored these many runs at an average of 48.7 and that is what makes him the perfect batsman to have in the Indian test side. His average is better than star batsman Rohit Sharma. Pujara hasn’t played in T20s for India given that his strength is in playing test cricket.
Saha on the other hand has still a lot to achieve. He didn’t get a lot of chances to perform for his country but at times when India needed him, he has delivered. He hasn’t played enough matches for India in test cricket for us to compare him with Pujara. Even so, he has consistency and is a great player with class and talent. Apart from his batting, he is also a very good wicketkeeper for India as he rarely makes any errors. In 2017, both Saha and Pujara played a key role in India’s batting when they made a partnership of 199 runs against Australia and gave India a lead of 152 runs. If not solo, they sure work well together!!
