Sergio Ramos, the Real Madrid captain, has numerous tattoos, including some incredible numbers on his fingers. ‘The soul of the buried lives on in the memory of the living,’ inscribed in two parts on his right and left biceps is one of the most emotional tattoos. It’s a show of respect for the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11, 2001, and Madrid on September 11, 2004. Ramos, 31, is also adorned with the Star of David, tattooed on his left arm in memory of Antonio Puerta, a close friend, and former teammate who died at the age of 22. In August 2007, Puerta, a Spanish international, collapsed and died while playing for Sevilla against Getafe.

Every Argentine footballer grows up idolizing Diego Armando Maradona, the greatest player of all time. Marcos Rojo, a defender for Manchester United, is no exception. The center-half had a one-of-a-kind design of the Napoli icon on his thigh as a tribute to the late football hero who passed away last November. Rojo’s tattoo is one-of-a-kind, depicting Maradona in a cigar-chomping Fidel Castro posture, complete with a star-emblazoned communist cap. ANTHONY KNOCKAERT-
Anthony Knockaert, a Fulham striker presently on loan at Nottingham Forest, has a tattoo of his late father Patrick on his arm. His father, a truck driver who also took time to transport him to youth football tournaments, died in 2017, at the age of 63, and the French star decided to pay tribute to him with ink on his chest. The depiction of his father smiling and chewing a cigar was made by local tattooist Daniel Gulliver, who has worked on several Premier League players.

Bayern Munich midfielder Vidal has a slew of tattoos on his torso, including one that shows his skin ripping away to reveal a Spiderman costume, but the most unusual is an insulin pump. After his son Alonso was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, he had the work done on the right side of his six-pack in 2016.
