Fielding in a real match after the lockdown was difficult for both teams, India as well as Australia throughout the ODI, T20 and now in the test series. Both Australia and India have been terrible at fielding during this tour. Even if there were instances where fielders from each team showed a brilliant piece fo fielding, the overall fielding of both teams was terrible. Even the best fielders like Labuchagne and Virat dropped catches.

To sum up, neither side has been fluent in their fielding. Tim Paine dropped two important catches behind the stumps while keeping and Travis Head dropped the important wicket of Ajinkya Rahane after which he scored a century. Fielders have not been able to back their bowlers. In the second test match, after Jadeja was added to the team, the fielding side came one step closer to being stronger.

Australia too needs to spend more time on their fielding if they wish to take on India in the following test matches. Even if you have the best bowlers and batsmen in the team, without strong fielders, it is difficult to win any match. Hence between Australia and India, both sides were terrible at fielding in their last encounters.
