Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only captain in the world of cricket to win all three ICC trophies. A right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, Dhoni is one of the highest run-scorers in One Day Internationals with more than 10,000 runs scored and is considered an effective “finisher” in limited-overs formats. He is also regarded by some as one of the best wicket-keepers and captains in modern limited-overs international cricket. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, the Indian team witnessed some major wins and he was termed as a successful captain.
On the other hand, we have Kapil Dev, a former Indian cricketer. He was a fast bowler and a hard-hitting middle-order batsman. Regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders to play the game, he is also regarded as one of the greatest captains in the history of cricket. He is the first player to take 200 ODI wickets. He is the only player in the history of cricket to have taken 434 wickets and scored more than 5000 runs in Tests, making him one of the greatest all-rounders to have played the game. The win against West Indies was India’s maiden World Cup in 1983 under Kapil Dev’s captaincy. The finest catch of Viv Richards by Kapil Dev was attributed as the turning point in the world cup finals.
Both these world cup winning captains have made a remarkable contribution to the Indian cricket team. We can’t pick the best amongst them. Please help us by choosing one.
