Prithvi Shaw is still 21 years old but has managed to make a place in the Indian Cricket team. He currently opens the batting for IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals and has performed well on a domestic level. In any case, he still hasn’t managed to make an impact in international cricket. In the recent few matches that he has played against other nations, he has performed averagely. It is like we expected him to become the next Sachin but in the process, he lost his own gameplay and now is on the verge to make an exit from Indian cricket.
He got out for a duck in the first inning and for 4 runs in the second inning of his batting in the first test against Australia. Before he got out in the first inning, Ricky Ponting pointed out that Shaw has a weakness when he faces full-length deliveries. He leaves a big bat-pad gap when he leans forward to defend the ball and if the ball swings in, it breaks through his defence to hit the stumps. It is good that he is still just 21 years old so he has enough time to work on his defence.

Talking about being overrated, it is true that he has been given more chances than he deserves. Maybe the team management is expecting a lot from him or they want to make another player who can replace Virat Kohli just like he replaced Sachin Tendulkar. In any case, Shaw is still overrated because he still has a lot to learn. He faces world-class bowlers like Mitchel Starc and Pat Cummins who give a hard time to classy batsmen like Virat Kohli as well. Hence, Prithvi needs to become more mature and gain experience before he can return to international cricket.
