Anurag Basu fought the disease acute leukemia-type of blood cancer like a true champ.

The grand finale of the immensely successful 10th season of Sony Entertainment Television’s Kaun Banega Crorepati was graced by the presence of the celebrated filmmaker- Anurag Basu. Anurag came to the show to support Dr. Harakchand Savla, a KBC Karamveer, who runs Jeevan Jyot Cancer Relief and Care Trust, an NGO for the support of cancer patients.

As the shoot progressed, a very interested Anurag admitted to Amitabh Bachchan that he was intimidated by the background music that plays after the answer is locked as it signifies a point of no return of sorts. Adding to it, he mentioned that it reminded him of the haunting music in horror movies that he is most scared of. To this, the host, Amitabh Bachchan, told his that this would be a very small thing to worry about when he has dealt with the real monster, cancer.

Basu was diagnosed with acute leukemia-type of blood cancer and was given 2 months by the doctors. Like his movies, he fought the disease like a true champ.

Bachchan asked Basu to give out a message to all the cancer patients, to encourage them. To which Anurag Basu, responded, “I would like to tell them that this is not the end. They should not take the word cancer so seriously. What’s done is done and they should live their life normally the way they used to and treat cancer with the same attitude of treating a normal fever, cough and cold and only then, will one be completely alright. It teaches you to enjoy the good parts of life, when we spend our entire lives searching for real happiness and the search never ends. But cancer shows you that every moment of life counts and is special.”

Don’t miss out the grand finale episode that airs tonight, 23rd November at 9pm only On Sony Entertainment Television.
