India is a country that’s quite literally obsessed with cricket and we know it all. It’s been many years now that men’s IPL has entertained the cricket lovers and to a great extent. Men’s IPL started long back in the year 2008 and ever since then, it has happened every year. Over the years, we have had new champions in the field of IPL and well, all of them have been quite deserving of the titles indeed. While some teams have been constantly consistent with their approach over the years in the tournament, some teams have consistently failed to perform well. While everything has been smooth and fine for men’s cricket, fans right now had been eagerly waiting for women’s IPL.

The Women’s IPL is all set to happen this year and well, we have a big update. As per the latest media reports in NDTV Sports, Viacom18 has now secured the Women’s IPL media rights value for the tenure of 2023-2027 cycle. They have reportedly acquired the same for a whopping Rs 951 crores. This means that per match value of Rs 7.09 crores for the next 5 years. For the unversed, the BCCI is set to unveil the five WIPL franchises on January 25, 2023. Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary had tweeted saying,

Congratulations @viacom18 for winning the Women’s @IPL media rights. Thank you for your faith in @BCCI and @BCCIWomen. Viacom has committed INR 951 crores which means per match value of INR 7.09 crores for next 5 years (2023-27). This is massive for Women’s Cricket.”

The tournament would reportedly consist of 22 matches that will take place between March 5, 2023 – March 23, 2023.

We at IWMBuzz wish Viacom18 all the best for the upcoming tournament and we also wish all the teams good luck going ahead. Let us know your views in the comments section below and for more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com
