In 2009, Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid from Manchester United and the English Premier League.

“Manchester United is thrilled to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” the club said in a statement.

Ronaldo will remain in Portugal for the international break, according to ESPN’s Mark Ogden, with the intention of making his home debut in his second spell at Manchester United on Sept. 11 against Newcastle United.

After his departure was confirmed, Ronaldo took to Instagram to send a farewell message to Juventus and its fans.

While Manchester City sought to capture Ronaldo on a free transfer, Juventus’ asking price was roughly $29 million, according to Di Marzio. He also said that City was the only team in the running to sign Ronaldo.

Despite this, journalist Fabrizio Romano stated on Friday that Manchester City had dropped out of talks with Ronaldo and Juventus without reaching an agreement.

Following Man City’s withdrawal, Romano stated that Manchester United was preparing a bid and was “confident” of landing the iconic forward.

The 36-year-old had just begun his fourth season with Juventus, having previously spent six years with Manchester United and nine years with Real Madrid, as well as a season with Sporting in Portugal to start his professional career.

When Ronaldo was on the bench for Juve’s Serie A opener against Udinese on Sunday, rumors of a Ronaldo move erupted. Ronaldo came in the 60th minute and thought he’d scored the game-winning goal, but it was overturned after a VAR review, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

According to Sky Sports, Ronaldo requested to sit on the bench in order to “preserve his fitness” ahead of a prospective transfer.

With 674 goals in 897 matches in all competitions, the Portugal international is regarded as one of the best players of all time.

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 134 games for Juventus, following 118 goals in 292 games for Manchester United and 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo hasn’t played in the EPL in over a decade, but he’s set to make a tremendous impact in perhaps the most important league in the world.

Ronaldo was a productive player during his initial spell with Manchester United, but with Real Madrid, he became an all-time great.

If Ronaldo can return to Manchester United and produce at that level, the Red Devils will have a solid opportunity to win their first EPL title since 2013, after coming second last season.
