The Indian cricket team jersey is a jersey of pride as the sport is considered as a religion in India. The Indian cricket team jersey has had some transformations in a few years with a slight change in colour to change in the main sponsorer. Somewhere about in 1992, the team name on the front and the player’s name in the back appeared on the Indian jersey, until then it was just a plain jersey. In 1993, India suddenly switched to yellow with a band of blue running in front with the team name. The track pants, however, were light blue. Over the years the yellow continued but the blue became more dominant.

As the BCCI grew stronger, so did the presence of its logo on the Indian jersey. The 1997 jersey has a very prominent BCCI logo from the left to the centre in dark blue. The 2001 jersey was one of the last jerseys that had no sponsor across the front. The general tone was light blue with India written vertically on the right side in dark blue. Until then a few minor variations did come in. From 2001 to 2012 Sahara was the sponsor and the jersey went from a faded blue to a medium shade of blue with the sponsor name sometimes on the front or on the sleeve and the pattern of the tricolour on the jersey also changed from time to time.

In 2013 the sponsorship was handed to Star and the jersey change significantly. Later Oppo got the sponsorship and it continued until 2019. Finally, Byju’s is the sponsor with the sponsor name on the front.
