Cristiano Ronaldo is surely one of the most accomplished footballers in the history of soccer. He has a total of 648 club goals to his credit with 103 goals for his nation, Portugal. He has also been a part of winning 5 Championship titles four of which were won when he was in Real Madrid and one with Manchester United in 2008. Given how great this footballer is, he was certain to bag the award for Player of the Century at the Globe Soccer Awards 2020.
It is the award given to the greatest footballer in a century. It is jointly won by Maradona and Pele at the end of the year 2000. In the race for this award against Ronaldo were Messi, another legend with a different kind of greatness, and Mohammad Salah from Liverpool. This is an award that decorates Ronaldo for all his hard work and achievements that he has achieved over years of sheer determination and perseverance. It is not a trophy that decides or gives him a pass to be compared with his rivals such as Messi and Neymar.
Along with Ronaldo winning this award, Gerard Pique and Iker Casillaswon the Player Career Award. FC Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski won the award for Player of the Year with his team winning the award for Club of the Year.
