Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s Captain Cool has not only brought International Glory with his National commitments to the game as Captain and Player, but has also been responsible in giving his highly renowned franchise team of Chennai Super Kings the best possible outings so far in the IPL history.
MS Dhoni has lead Chennai Super Kings to three title wins in the years 2010, 2011 and 2018, and has taken his team to four runner-up finishes.
Chennai Super Kings has always remained the KINGS in this format of the game, with Dhoni mastering his men to peak at the right time and exhibit their best of talent on the field.
The team has always been nourished well by the captaincy of Dhoni. They have planned their team setup very well, and have believed in the players they choose to deliver on the given day. Their crucial wins are prime examples of this.
However, IPL 2020 seems to be very different for Dhoni and his men. They literally lost the race even before it began when they lost Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh. The two of them did not want to continue their IPL commitments for personal reasons.
Now, Dhoni and his men stare at the unfortunate!! They have been the first team out of the eight to have been knocked out of contention for the Playoffs. And this comes at a time when all the other teams have a chance of making it to the playoffs theoretically.
Dhoni has not been able to lead his men well this time around. Lady luck never seemed to be with them in IPL 2020. With Dhoni too being out of the magical touch, he has not delivered with the bat and the lack of a winning innings from the Captain has also lead to the failure of the team.
With all this, we can only say that few in the team of CSK have worn out with age catching on them!! Is Dhoni one of them?
