In terms of title victories, the Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful IPL franchise, having won the competition five times. MI, captained by Rohit Sharma since 2013, became the second team to retain the IPL title in 2020, defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.

MI are heavy favorites to win the IPL trophy in 2021, and if they do, they would be the first team in the tournament’s history to win three consecutive titles. One of the key reasons for MI’s success is their potent hitting lineup.

They have a handful of capped players in their lineup that have plenty of international experience. Today, we’ll look at MI’s batting and their top run-scorers since the IPL’s beginning –

Rohit Sharma – The Mumbai Indians skipper has led the team from the front and is the greatest run-scorer on the team. Rohit, who joined MI in 2011, has a total of 4060 runs with the five-time winners. The total consists of one century and 31 half-centuries. Rohit has a 31.47 average and a strike rate of 130.37. Rohit has 5230 IPL runs in total, having played for the Deccan Chargers for the first three seasons. Rohit is the fourth most prolific batsman in history, with 5230 runs.

Kieron Pollard (3023) – Kieron Pollard is one of the few players who has only played for one franchise in their IPL careers, and he now ranks second with 3023 runs for the Mumbai-based club. He originally joined MI in 2010 and has been a regular ever since. His 3023-run total includes 15 half-centuries. Pollard was instrumental in Michigan’s title defense last year, scoring 268 runs and striking out 191.42 times. He is Rohit Sharma’s deputy and has led MI to 5 victories in 8 matches as captain. He has 198 sixes to his credit.

Sachin Tendulkar (2334) – Sachin Tendulkar was the first MI captain to take the franchise to the final of an IPL season, and he concluded his IPL career with 2334 runs. From 2008 to 2013, he appeared in 78 appearances for MI. Tendulkar did not make the playing XI for the IPL 2013 final. Tendulkar scored a century for MI against the Kochi Tuskers of Kerala. Since his departure from the game, he has remained a part of the organization and has become a symbol for MI.
