The 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is the seventh ICC Women’s T20 World Cup tournament. It is currently being held in Australia between 21 February and 8 March 2020. The tournament has 10 teams. Australia has won the championship 4 times and is one of the strongest teams. But the Indian team beat Australia in the first match of the T20 2020 World Cup. The Indian Team has some of the best cricketers and the team looks promising. Three semi-final appearances don’t make for bad reading but with the women’s team growing leaps and bounds over the years, expectations have set in ahead of the tournament Down Under.
Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur are now household names, and deservedly so. Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues represent a fearless, youthful yet highly competitive side. As always, the spin will be India’s trump card but pacers, led by the experienced Shikha Pandey, could have a big role to play. We are hoping that the Indian Team lifts the world cup for the first time after semi-final showings in 2009, 2010 and 2018. With a great start to the tournament with a win against Australia, we are excited about this strong team.
